She had angels eyes, ya know? The kind you get lost in, and it's scary and you don't want it to ever end.

Only problem was she hid'em behind her glasses. You never saw he eyes unless she took'em off, which she never did.

Hell, I was willing to bet she went to sleep with'em on (probably with a book on her chest; she was odd like that).

So when one day she came up to me without her glasses and started talking to me over lunch, I had no idea what to say. They just caught me and held me.

She mentioned it later, saying most guys were too busy staring at girls chests to pay attention to what they were sayin', but she had never met a guy who had had that problem with eyes. I laughed about it, thanked god she was wearing glasses, and apologized.

She told me that now she knew what to do whenever she wanted me to shut up: just take off her glasses.

I laughed and agreed. We became pretty close friends after that, went out to lunch, hung out, and made fun of the world. Whenever she would forget her glasses she would do most of the talking, of course.

So when one day she just didn't show up at that one little cafe we always went to, I was worried.

I got a call a few days later. She had been in an accident which had somehow left her blind. Infact, her eyes were gone. Those eyes that had captivated me so much over the years were gone.

When I went to the hospital a few days after that, she had bandages around her eyes and, of course, no glasses. I didn't say much. I couldn't say anything.

It wasn't her eyes, like I had thought, it was her.

She had a hold on me, somehow. Her eyes just let it show through more than normal.

We talked until I had to leave, and I think she was happier afterwards. She was smiling, at least.

When she left, I practically lived with her. She joked about having her own seeing eye dude, and I laughed along with her.

I just felt like I was returnin' a favor, though. She helped me lead my life. I was helpin' her lead hers in a more physical and immediate sense.

I never told her about how much her eyes fascinated over the years. I never told her how much she fascinated me, either.

I didn't think she needed to know, but I think she knew anyways. Not that she ever abused it.

I think she knew that I would die for her if she told me to.

I think she knew that, and didn't tell me to do anything ridiculous because of it.

So here we are, just two people who found each, as I read once. We just found each other, and stuck like glue.

Author's Comments

I actually liked this, even after I got about halfway through and it spun out of my control.

Finished while listening to This is a Call by Thousand Foot Krutch (I think) and I blame :icone-vay: for introducing to the song, even inadvertently.

Now, I must go threaten my brother with a petticoat.

i really liked this one. it makes you think that sometimes we're drawn to other people because of certain qualities, not just because they may remind us of something.

This is totally sweet, I absolutely love your style.

Really touching story, too. Just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks for making my day! I'm really sorry I haven't been showing my face lately. I've been away from the devart scene in a while. I didn't mean to upset you if I have... I'm still a very big fan of your work.

*laughs* Thank you!

Yeah, I was wondering what happened. Glad to see you're back!

OMG... I LOVE it!

It's not the usual sappy little tale... [even though it still is. If that makes any sense] The twist in the middle, her losing her eyes, that is what made it for me. I know I shouldn't have, but I LAUGHED! >.<

I liked this piece, and considering the song you were writing to, they kind of go together.
